Importing From Jira

This article explains how to connect Farline to Jira and import epics as work items so you can forecast timelines quickly.

What gets imported

When you import from Jira, Farline creates a starter project structure automatically:

  • Project name: your Jira project name
  • Scenario: Baseline Scenario
  • Workstream: Workstream 1 with capacity of 6
  • Each selected Jira epic becomes a work item (ID matches the epic key, e.g. PROJ-123)
  • Dependencies are preserved from Jira Blocks relationships

How to import (step-by-step)

  1. Open the Farline app.
  2. Click MenuImportFrom Jira.
  3. Click Connect to Jira and authorize Farline in Atlassian.
  4. Select the Jira project you want to import from.
  5. Select the epics you want to import.
  6. Click Import X Epic(s).

Farline generates YAML automatically. You can then tweak the YAML and rerun forecasts.

Important notes

  • Only dependencies from Jira Blocks link types are imported.
  • After import, review the size field for each work item to match your team’s estimation approach.
